At the start of this week I set myself three targets to complete, to help develop my technology skills.
"1) I want to experiment with photo shop and I want to learn how all of the tools work, and what they do, secondly I want to experiment with the different filters, this would help with my print work and advert look more professional."
To do so, I have been looking up basic photo shop tutorials on Youtube in order to help me as I don't have much involvement with Photo shop outside of college.
I felt that this helped me quite a lot as with my print work I wanted to use unusual effects to make it stand out and become more eye-catching. After watching this I had a go at making a detailed first draft of how my digipak could look;
2) I want to learn how to use the lighting equipment, as I have never used it before, and this would help with the music video task.
I didn't really explore this as much as i could have; i watched a few tutorials on Youtube again, however i don't think these helped very much as i would have needed a more hands on demonstration as it does seem quite complicated.
3) I want to experiment with some of the effects that will be used within my music video - zooming in and out, focus pulls and tracking shots, with practise this would make my music video more professional and unique.
I had quite a lot of experience with a recording camera as I previous studied Film Studies, I know how a lot of the effects work, i just wanted a little more experience with it to make my music video seem a bit more professional. A friend of mine is still studying film studies and has to use a camera for her coursework, whilst she was recording it, she took me through what effects she would be using, and showed me a few which i didn't know. I think with this it has given me a wider range of effects to use in my music video as well as giving me a bit more personal knowledge of how to work the cameras.
